“The Battle of Gettysburg, Jul 2 & 3rd, 1863, some of the Troops as they were without blankets…… Edward took this blanket from a dead Confederate Soldier and slept under it.” April, 1903 Sarah K. Bush
Regimental Quartermaster is proud to offer a copy of this exciting CS issue blanket. With a strong provenance to being issued to and used by a Confederate soldier, this blanket was also picked up and used by a federal soldier, making it a very versatile blanket for both CS and US use!
This 100% wool blanket measures approximately 70" by 84", is unfinished (as per the original) and weighs three pounds twelve ounces. The blankets will be unhemmed like the original, but some extra yarn will be included for those who would prefer to hem their blanket (the original blanket had frayed nearly three inches on either end.)
No corner has been cut in creating this reproduction. The yarn has been custom reproduced using actual samples from the original blanket, and the weaving is by Family Heirloom Weavers-the best in the business today! Minute details such as subtle weave changes and shoddy inclusions have been painstakingly reproduced. This blanket has been reproduced with the approval and collaboration of the owner and some of the most brilliant minds in the textile industry today!

Mattress Tick
The mattress tick is the simplest form of mattress. It can be used with any cot, or just spread on the ground. It is very light weight, can be rolled into the blanket roll or folded, taking up very little space in the backpack. Its period of use spans the civil war era by quite a few years, so it is perfect for authentic camps. To use it, you simply unroll it, open the flap, and fill it with hay, straw, dry leaves, or whatever other soft warm materials are available, (some owners are reported to have hidden air mattresses in them, but that's cheating) and button the flap closed to keep the filler in. Then you place it on your cot or on the ground, with the buttons on the bottom at the foot. You are now ready for a peaceful night's sleep. Approx. size 36” by 68”
