This type of scabbard was common throughout the entire span of the war, and is known as an early type manufactured from 1859 (when two rivets were added to the frog for strength) until early-1863. Very good quality at a reasonable price! A big plus for me is the “Made in USA” part. I had to pick up a new scabbard quickly to replace one that finally died on me after several years of steady use. Rather than shell out a hundred bucks, which was not in my pocket at the time, I opted for a more economical scabbard. I definitely did not want to go the “made in India” route though. This scabbard fit my criteria well and I have not regretted the purchase at all. So far I am very impressed with the quality for the price.
