Original era manufacture. Standard early war, black leather cavalry box, measuring 4-1/4″ x 2″ x 8-1/8″, with front flap attaching to bottom finial flap, along with reverse belt loops, and roller buckles. Includes Interior implement pocket with flap, behind which is larger pocket with flap; however, the wooden twenty holed cartridge container has been lost to history. There is an unreadable inspector stamp located on the bottom of the front flap. Leather is cracking throughout, with considerable flaking on the rear of the box. All stitching is tight, as are Roller buckles and reverse belt loops. In all, a solid specimen of the early war carbine cartridge.
